Helping Texans Living With ALS Prepare for Power Outages
Coastal Power Initiative supports people living with ALS in Texas whose safety, communication, mobility, or daily care may be affected when the power goes out.
When Power Is Part of Daily Care
For many people living with ALS, electricity supports essential equipment and everyday routines. A power outage may interrupt breathing support, communication devices, mobility equipment, adjustable beds, lifts, suction devices, feeding equipment, refrigeration, charging, and temperature control.
We help individuals and families prepare before an outage happens so they have a safe and practical plan for maintaining essential power and continuity of care.
You May Be Eligible for Support If…
- You have ALS or are requesting help on behalf of someone with ALS.
- You live in Texas.
- You rely on electricity for essential medical equipment, communication, mobility, caregiving, or home safety.
- You need help identifying or obtaining an appropriate backup power solution.
- You want to improve your emergency preparedness before an outage occurs.
Assistance is based on individual need, available resources, and current program capacity.
Coastal Power Initiative currently serves Texans living with ALS. Our vision is to grow beyond Texas and make reliable backup power and emergency preparedness support available to families with ALS across the country.
